History of the Congress
The "Congreso Dr. Antonio A. R. Monteiro" was created by the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) in 1989. It is held every two years and the main topic of the congress varies from one congress to another. However, in each congress, apart from the main topic, there are lectures, posters, etc, from several fields of mathematics. This also represents Dr. Monteiro's inspiration of giving impulse to all branches of mathematics. Dr. Monteiro was one of the founders of the Departamento de Matemática and of the Instituto de Matemática at the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS).

Each congress has had about 9 invited lectures, 3 to 4 courses for students and 14 to 20 short communications. The proceedings contain refereed articles, including short communications.
